Every two years, since 2008, the International Blokart Racing Association (IBRA) has hosted the Blokart World Championships in various locations around the world.

For instance, they’ve been in Papamoa (New Zealand, the home of blokart), Ostend (Belgium), Ivanpah (Nevada, USA), Perth (Australia), and Binnisalam (Mallorca, Spain).

This year the plan was to be back in New Zealand, at Ohakea Airforce Base. Of course, covid had other plans. So, the event has been postponed a year.

The 2021 World Championships will be hosted over 2 venues, making use of the Manawatu Blokart Clubs purpose built blokart sailing track for some action packed short course races and with the generous support of the RNZAF we have access to Ohakea Air Base for 3 days of high speed racing on the tarmac.

The schedule for the World Championship and the pre-event will be:

  • Pre Event 19th & 20th October
  • Worlds Registration 21st October
  • World Champs 23rd to 26th October

You’ll find all the latest information here: https://blokartworlds.com/2020-blokart-worlds/. And, of course, we’ll keep you in the loop with any developments as well. Be sure to sign up for the newsletter here.

Team Bonaire

If you are interested in joining the small team we will be organising to go from Bonaire, be sure to get in touch so we can add you to the plans.

Racing at a world-class level is such a thrill! And the competitors who assemble from about 40 different countries make the event even more special.

It is a welcoming, friendly atmosphere created by serious sailors who are usually happy to share their “secret sauce” and encourage the very enthusiastic, but less experienced.
